6 Year Old Receives Help After Writing To The PM

6 year old Vaishali from Pune has now undergone a surgery for her heart and is now recovering. However, the family says it had all been possible after she wrote to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.6 year old

Class II student, Vaishali Yadav, 6 year old girl,  was diagnosed with a hole in her heart and was ordered to undergo surgery which would cost around Rs 3 lakh. Due to the poor financial background, her family was from, they could not go ahead with her surgery. ” Due to our poor economic background and lack of below poverty line documents(BPL) , the surgery was not possible, ” said Vaishali’s uncle Pratap Yadav. Vaishali’s father , who is a small time painter, was unable to meet the requirements for her treatment. He had even sold her toys to make money for medicines.

Once when Vaishali happened to see PM Modi on television, she decided to write to him explaining her medical and economical condition and seeking financial help for her surgery. She wrote the letter herself and made her uncle post it along with a copy of her school identity card.787414-Thanks-to-PMO-year-old-BPL-girl

Though the family wasn’t expecting much as a reply, within a week , they found help. ” within a week, few people from the school along with some district administration staff came looking for us and later a meeting was called with the collector,” said Yadav. The Prime Minister’s office alerted the Pune district administration prompting them to help the girl. The district authorities traced the family’s address and rushed the girl to city-based Ruby Hall Clinic on June 2 where Vaishali was successfully operated  on June 4th.

“Dr. Shrikar Pardeshi, IAS officer and Director inb the PMO, personally called me to inform about the letter and asked to help the girl accordingly. After coming to know the 6 year old girl required medical help, she was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic hospital and was operated free of cost, ” said Sourabh Rao , District Collector.

Dr. Sanjay Pathare, medical director of Ruby Hall Clinic said that the girl is fine and healthy and was discharged on Wednesday . A report of her surgery has also been sent to the PMO.
