National Award Winning Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar said the government to set up public toilet every five hundred meters or one kilometer across Maharashtra on Monday.
The Bollywood actor was speaking at “Transform Maharashtra’ event in Mumbai said, “Govt. Should plan to put mobile toilets in every 500m or 1km across the state. It will support cleanliness. This should be supported with an app to locate it (the nearest mobile toilets).
Further, the actor said that the women in the rural areas of the country face a lot of the problems as there are hardly any public toilets in the villages. It should be noted that the actor is currently working on a movie which deals with the issues related to the lack of toilets in India.
His upcoming film is “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” and he even cited a dialogue from the movie, Agar biwi chahiye pass, toh ghar me chahiye Sandaas (if you want the wife to stay with you, ensure you have a toilet at home).
Akshay Kumar is seen has been actively involving in the public issues in the country and has been quite vocal about it. However, the actor won the National Award recently for the Best Actor for his movie ‘Rustom’.
It must be noted that the maintenance of public toilets in the country has been a major cause of concern. It’s seen that the public toilets suffered from the lack of care. Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister was also present at the event.
