Nawazuddin Siddiqui was welcomed amidst cheers and applause for his new release “Raman Raghav 2.0” at Cannes Film Festival, 2016. The story is based on the life of Mumbai’s notorious killer Raman Raghav.
Siddiqui effortlessly delivers similar roles in Gangs of Wasseypur before. The film Raman Ragav 2.0, directed by the seasoned director Anurag Kashyap is the story of a serial killer of 1960s. The other prominent actor in this film is Vicky Kaushal.
Nawazuddin is a regular at the Cannes Film Festival. Earlier, he got recognition for his performance in “The Lunchbox”, Gangs of Wasseypur” and a few others. This is his eighth film in four years to make an entry in such a prestigious event.
“Miyan Kal Aana”, was his debut film as a producer was also screened at the festival. His brother directed this film.
The entire cast and crew is excited about this whole episode. Earlier it was anticipation, later it was the celebration time. The entire team has been congratulated for delivering such power-packed performance. The performance of the actor has been appreciated on other platforms as well. The film making technique of Anurag Khasyap has also been acknowledged.
The dark-thriller will also compete at the Sydney Film Festival. The jury comprising of five international and Australian filmmakers will award a cash prize of $60,000 at the closing ceremony on June 19. Other films competing at Sydney Film Festivals are The Endless River, Apprentice, Aquarius, Goldstone, Certain Women, The Childhood of a Leader, It’s Only the End of the World, Land of Mine, Letters from War, Notes on Blindness and Viva and Raman Raghav 2.0 (Psycho Raman). It will also be screened at the 69TH Cannes Film Festival ‘Director’s Fortnight’ section.
The film will release on June 24 this year
