As we know, there are millions of young students who dreamt either to become a doctor or an engineer. One such aspirant was Sachin Sharma. However, Sachin’s dream remained unfulfilled due to lack of Financial support and guidance.
Sachin Sharma is a resident of Sultanpur colony in Delhi’s MG Road was forced to do all the odd jobs to survive.
I always wanted to become an Engineer, but there was no one to guide and support me. Even, my parents enrolled me in a course in which I was least interested. I couldn’t even quit the job as the amount of the course was completely paid which worth Rs 50,000 which was a huge amount at that time.
This made him start a new project to help the unprivileged kids to help to achieve their dreams.
While I was working as a Manager in an MNC, something strikes me that this, not the life I wanted. Rather, I wanted to do something else that would impact others’ life like me. Then, I decided that I will start something new which will help the students to achieve their dreams, especially those are provided with proper guidance and are not well off.
Udgam Foundation, it’s an NGO that Sachin Sharma runs with intent to help the underprivileged kids by providing coaching to them for free of cost.
In 2012, the organization was founded by Sachin Sharma along with 5 other founders. They collected students from the economically weak background and trains them to appear IIT-JEE Examinations.
“The government students are completely miserable. Even, they are clueless about why they took Computer Science at the first place. They don’t have any idea what they will do in 12th std.”
How they gather students?
Sharma himself goes to government schools and colleges and conducts a counseling session to tell about the various career options they can pursue by taking science.
Then, conducts exam for selecting students.
The selected students come from the economically poor background. Either the students’ parents are drivers or works as security guards. They don’t have a strong background to support their dreams.
Not only, did I teach them; but also motivates them to climb the ladder to grow. Because, for a child from a very poor background, the only key to climbing the ladder of education.
In fact, Sharma’s students have performed stupendously well and made up their seats to colleges like IIT Kharagpur, Delhi Technical University and Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women.
Sachin Sharma is emotionally attached to the students. He calls up to their parents to know the issue for being absent in the class. If somebody is facing problems with textbooks, he pays for the books also.
Even, his students admire him a lot. He played an important role their lives and acts as a constant source of encouragement.
