Is Punjab a tourism hub?


S. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab expressed his views regarding the heritage look to be given to Punjab. ‘The Guru ki Nagri city Amritsar will be given a new heritage look and in the next 3 years it would become a tourism hub for the entire country’, says Sukhbir Badal.

He expressed his views dedicating to humanity to the narration based ‘Multimedia Interpretation Center’ which is present inside the basement of Sri Darbar Sahib plaza constructed by Punjab Government which costs Rs 223 Crore. This is one of the kind centers of the country as it has 4 hi-tech galleries that depict the history of the Sikh religion and Sri Harmandir Sahib.

While interacting with media persons, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the 4 studios of this center would run 4 shows of 45 minutes duration. He also mentioned that the show will for 10 hours daily and the duration will be increased afterward.

He also mentions further that people coming from different parts of the country as well as from aboard would be guided about the Sikh history and that of Sri Darbar Sahib at this center. He said that the lighting effects on the complex along with the aid of latest technology have been completed and the project was dedicated to the public on ‘Maghi’. The illumination in the Sri Darbad Sahib is a beautiful and breathtaking sight.

The tourism sector here has witnessed an upswing by 60% during the course last 3 months that results in tourists thronging the city in large numbers. Sukhbir Badal also said that the development of Guru ki Nagri is an article of faith, whereas, the opposition parties didn’t pay any attention to that. He also mentioned that after 5 years there will be no other state in the country that will able to match Punjab on the development parameters.
