Ringing Bells Freedom 251 deliveries start from today

Ringing bells, the company that brought up the idea of the cheapest Smartphone, Freedom 251 earlier this year, has confirmed to start delivering the handsets from June 28, 2016. However, the earlier announcement mentioned June 30, 2016, as the delivery date.

With the initial promise of delivering 25 lakh handsets, the company has come down to a very small number of two lakh. The Noida-based company director Mohit Goel said that they are ready with 2 lakh Freedom 251 handsets to be delivered from June 28, 2016, with preference given to those who had paid for it earlier.

Mr Goel said that as a part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the handsets have been manufactured at the company’s Haridwar-based manufacturing unit and have planned to sell two lakh handsets every month. As per Goel, the company is facing a loss of Rs 140- 150 per unit, but he is determined to cover the loss with high volume.Freedom-251-10-624x361

The company had come up with the idea in mid-February, planning the delivery of 25 lakh handsets before June 30.  The sales started via its website, which apparently crashed within the first two days of the commencement of the sale. Seven crore people registered for the phone while only 30,000 were able to pay who were later refunded the amount.

Equipped with a 4-inch display rendering a resolution of 540×960 pixels, Freedom 251is powered by a modest 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and comes with 1GB of RAM. The 8GB of internal storage can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card, and there is a 3.2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front cam.freedom 251 delivery starts

The CEO Mohit Goel said that they will organize a media event soon to announce the lucky draw to the lucky customers of the handsets, 10,000 units in every state. The company plans to invite one winner from each state for the event.
