Study: Soda could cause rare cancers

You may love to have a tin of pop. But researchers say that it’s not a good idea to be followed.

In a study, it was found people who consume sodas or sugar-sweetened beverages had higher risks of developing rare cancers in the gall bladder & liver, Reuters reports.

According to Reuters, not much evidence was found regarding cancers in gallbladder & liver. However, it might lead to obesity & consumption of elevated sugary substances leads to Type 2 diabetes.

The research surveyed drinking & the eating habits of more than 70,000 people for 13 years, whether eventually, they have been suffering from cancer or not.

“Consumption of soda is also associated with the risk of having biliary tract cancer’, says Susanna Larsson in a news channel.

When researchers confirmed, out of which 150 people suffer from cancer in the gallbladder or biliary tract during the study.

This percentage might seem you a diminished one. But, people who consume more than two soda drinks per day results in twice the risk of developing gallbladder cancer & 79 percent higher odds are for biliary cancer.

The current study is about, finding a link between sugar-sweetened beverages like soda & different types of cancer.

At the start of the study, participants were asked regarding their drinking & eating food habits. Like, how many cans of soda drinks they have consumed in the last few weeks or in the previous year?

When answered, found participates were 61 years of old in average. Out of which, half of them were overweight & quarter percent were smokers.

However, it’s still under observation regarding the consumption of drinks like soda can cause cancer. But, as the researchers say, “Prevention is better than cure”.

Whether or not soda or sugar-sweetened beverages results in cancers. But, to switch out these drinks is a healthier option!

Regardless of the cause, it’s enough for us to stay fit & healthy by quenching thirst through the water. Addicted people towards soda can have diet soda, which is less in calories & even sounds healthier.
