TVF’s CEO Arunabh Kumar was booked for molestation.


A FIR has been registered against Arunabh Kumar on Wednesday. Arunabh Kumar, the CEO of the digital entertainment start-up The Viral Fever (TVF) was on molestation charges more than a week after a woman accused him anonymously.

Kumar was present at the center of the controversy after a woman gave a detailed description about the sexual harassment she faced while working as a subordinate with him in an anonymous blog post. Soon after then, many other women came forward with their harassment cases.

However, it’s still unclear on which women complaint the FIR has been registered.

The case was registered in MIDC police station in Mumbai’s Andheri East as the TVF office falls within the jurisdiction.

“A complaint from a woman and a FIR has been registered under section 354 (sexual harassment) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC against Arunabh Kumar,” said a police officer.

The blog post was widely shared on social media leading to several women both anonymously or otherwise sharing similar experiences of the sexual harassment cases by Kumar.

The police encouraged the alleged victim to come forward without any fear and promised prompt action. Rizwan Siddiquee, a city-based lawyer who also approached the MIDC police station with a written complaint to file a FIR but the police refused to do so until the victim comes forward.
