Senior Secondary Model School Punjabi University Patiala, celebrated ‘World Cleanup Day’ in the school campus. It was scheduled under British council’s project Activity: Garbage Management. The objective of the day was how to manage the daily solid waste generated by urban households. It emphasized the need of garbage segregation into biodegradable and non-biodegradable. In the morning assembly, students showcased posters, slogans and quotes encouraging the school audience to be nature friendly and shun the use of plastics. It was conveyed that we should use jute, cloth and paper bags as these are bio-degradable and recyclable. Addressing the audience the school principal S. K. Nirmal Goyal gave importance on living in a clean and green environment with zero waste. An awareness rally was organized by the students that went through the university campus sensitizing the society about the significance of being eco-friendly.
