Yoga Guru’s Patanjali fined for misleading ads

Our Yoga Guru, Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. has been of Rs 11 lakhs for putting up misleading & misbranding advertisements.

On August 2012, few samples of Patanjali products have been taken up for the testing. The test was held in Haridwar health department Food safety division.  Samples of mustard oil, gram flour, ionized salt, pineapple jam & honey were taken into the laboratory. These quality tests failed in the Rudrapur laboratory.

However, when the tests failed, On November 2012, the food safety division filed a case in the Haridwar District of Magistrate (ADM) against the Patanjali Ayurved Ltd.

The Consumer’s Complaint Council found that- Patanjali claimed of marketing Kachi Ghani Mustard oil but failed to sustain. Additionally, they also failed on claiming about the supply of Pineapple Fruit juices by the brand name- expensive juices containing less pulp.

“It was found that the Patanjali products are manufactured in other factories & not in Patanjali’s factories. But they are being marketed by Patanjali Ltd as the exclusive Patanjali products”, says Mr. Pandey.

The test was conducted in UttarKhand in the FSSAI- drugs & food testing lab that is located at Rudrapur.  Since then the case has continued! On December 1, 2016, the court ordered regarding the fine imposed on the company & that should be within a month. Today, the news became public.
